In Frame: A makeshift temple !

About The Picture: Wooden shelf nailed on trunk of a tree. An umbrella tied on this wooden shelf and few idols and pictures of Hindu God and Goddess.

What you see in the above picture is 'Faith'

One day while in office cab I discovered the existence of this temple. Though I have been  regular on same route and hence this observation was a pleasant surprise for me. 

After clicking this picture I had few words with a lady who sells earthen pots on roadside. She told me that its her family who has built this temple almost nine years back. Recently city municipality people had cut the branches of the tree and hence this temple is now so much visible.

God's Gate Keeper

   In Frame : Rani. Do we need to say who she is ? Rani is the elephant at Manarkul Vinayagar Temple at Pondicherry (Pondy) whom one can see the entrance of the temple. She has been trained to shower blessings on devotees who offer her money and eatables especially banana. On festivals she is beautifully decorated with colorful usually red and golden yellow robes and cloth sheets and carries the idols of Lord Ganesha along with the religious processions which passes through prominent streets of Pondy notable among them is JN Sreat and MG Road. Clicked in Aug 2008 at Manarkul Temple, Pondy during my first visit to the temple.

Tin Tin Tin ....................................

In Frame: A bell at the entrance of an inn at Har Ki Pauri - Haridwar While on the way to 'Har To Pauri' the sound of this bell made to take a notice of it. There is a famous saying in Hindi - " shankh ghant baje kal kant dur bhage" which means sounds of conch and bell drives away bad and difficult times. The street on its way to Har ki Pauri, is full of charitable inns and this bell is on the front door of one such inn. On its face its the sign of 'OM' and very fine drawings and a chain to ring it. It has been hanged exactly in way that it occupies the centre space on the face of entrace door. This bell face the east direction and on morning sun rays really adds an alluring charm togther with the sound of its ring. This picture was taken after diwali of 2009 when I visited Haridwar with my mother.
